My first visit to the Ameris Amphitheatre was for a 4th of July Concert by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Ameris Bank Amphitheatre, GA
The seating layout is very much like that of the Lakewood Amphitheatre. Close to the stage is covered seating and beyond that is the lawn seating. Although we only had lawn seats, the sound was very good. And fortunately, the rain was not in the forecast.
There are lawn chairs that can be rented for $8 each. We used them and they were comfortable (see picture below) – much better than sitting on the ground.

Some basic questions about Ameris Bank Concert venue in Alpharetta:
Here we’ll answer some popped-out questions our audience asked us for this specific event:
Should I bring my own chairs to Ameris Bank?
You can bring your own chairs to the concert if you have lawn seats but be advised they must be low profile (seat no more than 9 inches off the ground. Plus don’t forget to take into account that you will need to carry them from wherever you park to a space on the lawn.
And pack them up and carry them back after the Alpharetta concert is over. We just rented chairs ($8 each) when we went and it was much more convenient to just get up and leave as the concert was finished.
Am I allowed to bring food and drinks into the Ameris Bank amphitheatre concert venue in Alpharetta?
You are allowed to bring one bottle of water (factory sealed) per person into Ameris Bank. We had a bag of four and there were four of us. You cannot bring alcohol in, but you could probably get creative if you wanted. No food is allowed except if you have certain dietary restrictions.
Why do my lawn seats at Alpharetta’s Ameris Bank Amphitheatre have seat numbers? I thought they were just lawn seats.
I wondered that too. It was confusing the first time I went to a concert at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre but they say on their website it is for tracking purposes only. Side eye: they can easily track ticket sales if they wanted.
I believe they say that to trick people into thinking they will have seats only to arrive and find out – nope – and then force them to rent chairs. So, I got excited that I would have seats for no reason. So, to be clear, if you buy lawn seats at the Ameris Bank concert venue, you WILL have to bring lawn chairs or a blanket.
Should I take an Uber to the concert instead of paying to park at Ameris Bank parking lots?
You should definitely take Uber if you plan on drinking a lot or do not have a designated driver – duh! That being said, order your Uber when the band starts belting out that favourite song everyone was waiting for.
We started walking to our car in Lot C (a short walk from the lawn to the lot) a couple of minutes before the band’s number one song – Sweet Home Alabama – was done, and I was shocked at how many people were already waiting for their Uber.
I estimate that the people who waited until the concert was over ended up waiting about 45 minutes to an hour for their uber.
What are some great acts that have played at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre?
I’ve been back several times for concerts since then. My favourite concert at Ameris Bank by far was Howard Jones, OMD and Barenaked Ladies! Lynyrd Skynyrd was not bad either! Check out my boomerang from the Barenaked Ladies show:

How close to Atlanta is Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta?
It is about a 30 – 40 minute drive from Buckhead / Midtown Atlanta to Alpharetta where the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre concert venue is located.
Tickets closer to the stage are obviously much better. If you plan on getting lawn tickets, I highly recommend you either rent chairs or bring your own. The lawn is sloped and is awkward for simply sitting on a blanket.
Chairs will give you more stability. Also, many people sit in chairs, so if you are on the ground, your view of the stage will be blocked to some degree. The rental fee of $8 is worth it to me, to not have to drag chairs from the car to the lawn.
Food options at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre
I couldn’t write a review without mentioning the food. It is your usual fare: hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, pizzas and the like. I had a hot dog and fries when I visited. It was decent.
Not great, but not bad either. The combo of hot dog fries and drinks runs about $10. So, you can expect to pay more if you want a pizza something a bit more substantial.
On my most recent visit, I saw a lot of people with nachos and cheese too. So, there are basically not a lot of healthy options.
I recommend going to visit one of the nearby Alpharetta restaurants if time allows.
Village Tavern is my go-to spot, but The Diner at North Point is a good choice too. Both are somewhat close to the venue and much more pleasant an experience than just eating a hot dog.
Also, some of these restaurants even have specials where you can purchase a single ticket that has the combo of dinner and an event on certain dates.
Overall, the sound is super at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre.
Even if you arrive late you’ll be able to score decent parking. But when it comes to food at this concert venue, eat before, as dining options are slim. There you have it – the ultimate guide to navigating this Alpharetta Amphitheatre/concert venue. Enjoy!
