I was quite sad when I heard the news that one of my favorite chefs, Lance Gummere, was leaving the restaurant that had made him so popular. But yes, Lance was starting a new endeavor with partner, Shaun Doty. Bantam and Biddy, located in Midtown’s Ansley Mall, serves Rotisserie chicken, Pork, Meatloaf and other comfort foods.
I was invited to check out Bantam and Biddy. Lucky me: Both Lance and Shaun were on site when I visited and I was given the full tour. They have a fun patio that should be great for spring time. Love the decor. While it is a bit modern, they still incorporated some rustic touches into the the design like the chicken wire that encloses the cabinets above the bar and the chicken buttons in some of the cushion seating along the wall.
There’s no table service at Bantam + Biddy: this is fast casual, baby. Starters include items like Deviled Eggs or Poutine, fries with cheese and gravy. Pick a meat and two sides. Choose from sides like mac and cheese, broccolini, mashed potatoes, and of course duck fat fries.
Being a total slut for Poutine, I couldn’t resist it and the huge portion was more than enough for a decent size group. Both the chicken and grass fed beef are sourced locally. Entree prices are reasonable at between $10-$12. We loved the Pork Schnitzel and the sides were all delicious as well. But be sure to save room for dessert, specifically the Banoffe (Banana + Toffee) pie.
