Problem: You want to visit multiple wineries, breweries, etc but they are just so far apart. Solution: Take a bus or pedal your way to your destinations so you don’t have to think about arriving or parking.
The Atlanta Beer Bus
There have been an explosion in Atlanta breweries over the last handful of years, haven’t there? Parking can be a pain and you just want to get down to enjoying your time at the breweries, right? Well the solution is the Atlanta Beer Bus, operating on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. For $15 ($10 on Fridays) you can enjoy this hop on / hop off bus that loops from brewery to brewery.
While Friday and Saturdays feature more of the Midtown located breweries (Atlanta Brewing, SweetWater Brewing, Orpheus Brewing, Monday Night, Urban Tree Cidery, Scofflaw Brewing etc), the Sunday one features mostly Decatur spots (New Realm Brewing, The Porter Beer Bar, Wrecking Bar, Brick Store Pub, Twain’s Brewpub, Three Taverns Craft Brewery, Wild Heaven Brewing, The Beer Growler – Avondale).
I opted for a Sunday Funday and rode the Decatur route. Don’t plan on hitting up all the breweries (we only did a couple) and it still took us quite a while to visit those. Our day started at New Realm Brewing. What an amazing spot that is right on the beltline with incredible skyline views. The food is incredible too so I highly recommend dining there to start your day.
Wrecking Bar was a stop we really enjoyed as we were able to see the upstairs of this historic building and taste some of their lovely brews like the Resting Beach Face Saison. Three Taverns has amazing comfy couches where we could have just taken a nap on this lazy afternoon, but it was a short stop there before we ended our tour at Wild Heaven brewing. I hadn’t had there beers in a while and lucky for me, owner, Nick Purdy was there himself to drink a few tastings with me. I loved their season festive beer, Marzen, but you can’t go wrong with the Invocation either as it is one of their flagship beers.
Our tour guide Brandon, was great about coming in to the various spots to make sure we saw him and knew the bus was loading up to go. I felt that by the time the bus came around to our stop again we were ready to go. Love that we never felt rushed at any of the spots. You can book tickets on the Atlanta Beer Bus here.
Georgia Wine Bus tour
If you love wine, you have to visit some of the outstanding wineries in North Georgia. Helen and Dahlonega have some really fantastic ones. The only problem? They are really far away from each other. Don’t bother trying to navigate your way to these wineries by yourself. Take a luxury coach to your destinations with Georgia Wine Bus. Proprietors Charles and Christina Ernst has a bus outfitted with comfy seats, chargers at all seats and an easy way for a group to have fun while exploring the wineries of North Georgia.
Personally, I will take quality over quantity any day. So I’d rather visit about 3 wineries than try and fit a bunch in. Each winery has its own unique features. But you can choose from any number of tours from VIP Southern Tours. The classic is great which includes 3 wineries, 15 tastings and lunch and starts at $129.

Southern Pedaler Boozy brunch tour
If you are willing to do a little work for your brunch, then you’ll want to try out the Southern Pedaler. This bike holds a dozen people. There are two seats in the back for people who don’t want to pedal, too, FYI.
Southern Pedaler stops at three restaurants during the booze brunch tour. The restaurants are not too terribly far from each other, so don’t worry. You won’t be biking a marathon or anything on this Atlanta tour. But it is a fun way to spend an afternoon, and it is really fun if you are looking for something out of the ordinary to do with your out of town guests.
