Burger 21 opened in Buckhead and is one of nearly 20 locations across the country. The “21” comes from the fact that there are 21 burgers on the menu. Twenty burgers are staples and the last one is a rotating burger changed on the 21st of every month. I know what you’re thinking – not another burger joint, right?
There’s a clean minimalist decor about the place. However, it will be a fraction of the cost of burgers down the street at FLIP. Not to put down FLIP, but Burger 21 is catering to a different audience. Besides burgers, the menu offers salads, chicken tenders and gourmet Angus Beef hot dogs. The Great Dane comes piled high with fried onions as well pickled cucumbers.
Don’t do meat? There are other meats to make a burger out of like seafood, black beans, chicken and turkey at Burger 21. While I didn’t care for the Ahi Tuna burger (think it needs to be sushi grade quality to make a good tuna burger), a surprise highlight was Buffalo Chicken burger ($7). Often chicken burgers are dried out, but this has some hot sauce mixed in and is fried to lock in the goodness. It is topped with ranch and blue cheese as well!
Of the 10 beef burgers, if you like cilantro, get the Cinco burger topped with guacamole and a cilantro cream sauce. However, my favorite was the Tex-Mex Haystack. Topped with onion strings, bacon, gouda, guacamole and a chipotle-jalapeno sauce. Burgers are only around $8 each. Of course you’ll want to get a basket of fries (half regular, half sweet potato) to share to complete your order at Burger 21. The fun part is the sauce bar with 10 different kinds of sauce for your fries. The Ragin’ Cajun for regular fries and the creamy Apple Cider Vinegar (trust me, so good!) for the sweet potato fries are musts.
You could have beer or wine with your dinner but the Key Lime Pie or Bananas Foster milkshakes are a far better choice at Burger 21.
