National Cheesecake Day is July 30. Where are you celebrating?
What is your favorite kind of cheesecake? Me? I’ve never meet a cheesecake variety I didn’t like. Here are 5 spots in the Atlanta area with delicious cheesecakes to enjoy the special day.
1. Cafe Intermezzo – Though their espresso machine was broken the last time I visited and not fixed in the two hours I was there, I do love this spot. I missed my usual Spanish Mokka but would definitely want to visit to celebrate the holiday. With about 100 dessert items not to mention coffee choices, this is a top spot to go on National Cheesecake Day.
2. Metrotainment
Opened in 1997, Metrotainment has quickly become one of the most beloved bakeries in Atlanta. For your choice of cheesecake, visit their building on Logan Circle or head to one of the restaurants that serve Metrotainment cheesecakes like Sugar Shack or Einstein’s. Would you try an Ancho Chili Cheesecake? Sounds delicious to me, but more traditional varieties include a Lemon Ginger and Bailey’s. It’s a great spot to pick up cake to celebrate National Cheesecake day!
3. Sweet Auburn Bakery
Located downtown in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, you could do your grocery shopping for the week and then head over to this bakery for a sweet treat. They do offer a traditional cheesecake, but my absolute favorite is the sweet potato cheesecake. How yummy does that sound to celebrate National Cheesecake day?
4. Fogo de Chao
I freaking love Fogo de Chao, I mean all those meats and that salad bar. Yum! I’m usually too full to enjoy dessert after a filling meal, but one time, I was with a table of ladies who agreed to all have a bit if we ordered the cheesecake with strawberry topping and it was divine! Wanna see the pic? Of course you do! Click on the link above for my Fogo post and see why you need to celebrate National Cheesecake Day here.
5. Sweet Hut – Now there are locations throughout the Atlanta area of this popular dessert spot. Besides Buford Highway, there’s one in Midtown and yet another location in Kennesaw. There are so many different dessert options to choose from here. If you like cheesecake, you can certainly find that here, but there are lots of other options as well.
Bonus: Sage Woodfire Tavern – Baklava Cheesecake
I’ve had baklava and I’ve had cheesecake but never baklava cheesecake. I love how they incorporated the flaky layers from baklava right into the cheesecake. This is certainly a one of a kind dessert. The combination of these two is glorious. Plus, they are very generous with the portion.
