Lure Seafood, Midtown, Atlanta, GA Restaurant Review

Posted by

Lure restaurant, part of the Fifth Group empire is the newest concept to the family. With Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean and Southern covered, it was the perfect addition to the Fifth group family. I’m rather late to the game, with the restaurant now being open about a year and a half. But wanted to share my dining experience.

Besides regular cocktails, they also have pre-made cocktails from their “bottle shop.” These are all $9 and come pre-mixed complete with fizz. I realize the idea of a pre-made cocktail doesn’t sound that appealing but we each had one and found them to be delightful. My Micha Caliente (lemon-lime soda, jalapeno vodka, orange liqueur, cranberry, Verdejo) and Mr. ARB’s Blue-Eyed Boy Bombay Sapphire (gin, mint, elderflower, peach bitters) were both light and absolutely refreshing. Of course if this isn’t your thing, there are beers and wines to choose from as well as Lure’s own cocktails.

If you enjoy oysters, make sure to get an order at Lure. They always have whatever is currently in season, so ask your server what the day’s specials are. They are served with cocktail sauce, horseradish as  expected but also a shochu mignonette. I’m a sucker for Sockeye, and can  never pass it up. With its mustard seeds, crunchy fried bread and greens – it was spectacular. They don’t always have it on the menu, so if you see it, go for it. The tuna tartare is quite good too. It’s a generous portion of bright tuna served up with seaweed and shrimp chips.

Thought the much touted Octopus and Pork wraps remain quite popular and never leave the menu, they are the only thing that I didn’t find very appealing. But our entrees more than made up for that. Scallops served with okra an corn were done nicely. A fried Sole came with two large pieces and was another hit.

Lure is a terrific option for entertaining guests or for a date night. Tip: Make sure you ask for a decent sized table even if dining with only two in your party. Their little tables won’t support more than two appetizers at a time. If you are like me, you like some room to spread out your food while you dine.
