Don Draper approved cocktails await at the luxurious JP Atlanta, downtown.
JP Atlanta is a new cocktail bar that’s opened downtown. Executive chef Julio Delgado, who’s worked at Ritz-Carlton and was executive chef of Château Élan Winery & Resort, is now the chef and chief mixologist at JP Atlanta. Delgado also taught a cocktail class at the Americas Mart show and I was able to attend.
Delgado says of JP Atlanta that they’ve reinterpreted both classic dishes and cocktails from the 1960s. He aims to have the menu items “tell a familiar story with surprising twists. “Signature dishes on the JP Atlanta menu include Chicken “à la king, Beef short rib “bourguignonne, Braised lamb neck.

The handcrafted cocktail program gives another nod to the 1960s. JP Atlanta’s signature cocktail is a half-dozen creative homages to the Old-Fashioned, including:
- Draper Redux, named for a certain “Mad Man,” featuring rye, bitters, soda, sugar, orange and Luxardo cherries
- Diego’s Dram, a south of the border variation with reposado tequila, crème de cacao, xocolati mole bitters and sesame
We were all set up with the ingredients at our tables to create our fancy cocktails with guidance from Julio Delgado. See the recipes for the three cocktails we created at the Mixology demo below.
