Weekend getaway: here’s the best cabin rental in Blue Ridge, Georgia

Ever since I stayed in Blue Ridge, GA last year, I’d been itching to revisit in the fall. And I found the perfect cabin in Blue Ridge for my getaway weekend!

Driving up to Sky Lane (our cabin in Blue Ridge) on a cool, October evening, we could barely make out the cabin amongst the dark road. It is so quiet and dark, unlike the city. But just past the landing strip (it is part of a fly in community), was the driveway to our beautiful Blue Ridge Cabin. Since it was late and we were tired, we unloaded our groceries, watched a bit of tv and headed to bed. It wasn’t until the next morning we really took in our weekend home and all it’s beauty.

Here’s why this is the best cabin rental in Blue Ridge

Wrap around porch with coffee sipping spots

So, if you are going to rent a cabin in Blue Ridge, it goes without saying, mountain views are a must. Sky Lane cabins certainly delivers the views, but what’s even better is the fantastic wrap around porch. You’ll see it in the picture above (in case you didn’t figure it out already, it’s lovely for sipping your morning coffee in those rocking chairs). BUT the porch goes almost all the way around. Starting in the front there’s a fun porch swing near the front door door. Follow it in the other direction, and you’ll come across a cozy little table just outside the main bedroom.

Hot tub just off the basement for sipping on a glass of red

Yep, another fun aspect of a mountain cabin is a hot tub. Everyone wants to have that terrific moment of sipping on a velvety red (okay that’s one of my perfect mountain cabin moments), it’s large enough for as many as six. But the hubs and I truly enjoyed our time both day and night in the hot tub in Blue Ridge.

Lots of privacy with views for days at this Blue Ridge cabin

All the privacy your need at this cabin but just a short drive from downtown Blue Ridge

We had all the intentions of soaking up the cabin life for a weekend, with just a couple trips that included Fly fishing and hiking, however, rain and a power outage forced us to find our way downtown for food, much needed coffee and well, heat.

Modern design perfect for city dwellers at this North GA Blue Ridge cabin

Simple bedroom decor at this Sky Lane Blue Ridge cabin

I hate outdated looks in cabins or when every inch of the space has to be covered with something. I loved that this Blue Ridge cabin had enough decor to make it feel welcoming but not so much that it felt nauseating. They had a modern design in the kitchen and in the basement were gorgeous stained concrete floors.

Makes S’mores in the fire pit at your cabin

Fire pit for the perfect fall evenings and S’mores making

Besides wining in the hot tub, nothing screams cabin getaway like making S’mores, right? There’s a fire pit outside to have fun making your own S’mores. Love that the owners stock your Blue Ridge cabin with everything you need to make perfect s’mores.

Modern kitchen with everything you need to cook a gourmet meal

Are you seeing this kitchen and dining area? Beautiful, right? What you can’t see is that just to the right are the doors to take in those gorgeous Blue Ridge mountain views. While I’m all for dining out, this cabin just makes me want to light a fire, and enjoy all the surroundings, while dining on a feast I prepare myself. In fact we brought enough supplies to do that.

Numerous bathrooms to make a large group comfortable

I’m not a fan of sharing bathrooms when I travel with anyone other than my hubby. Though there were only three of us in our little family getaway, it was terrific that each of us had our own bathroom if we wanted it. There’s a full bath on each level. Bathrooms are spacious if you’ve got a full crew.

Owners of Sky Lane in Blue Ridge are super helpful and reachable

Sometimes, the unthinkable happens, and it did while we were staying at this gorgeous Blue Ridge cabin – we lost power. A giant power cord was knocked out and thousands were without power, including us. We reached out to Tammie (one of the owners) and she was superb in not only reaching out to the power company to find out what was going on, but trying to give us ideas of what to do. They gave us options for lots of things we could do to occupy our time in and around Blue Ridge, including a driving tour of amazing spots to see.
