Nobu Atlanta in Buckhead: restaurant review

There are now over 20 Nobu restaurants in North America. Atlanta’s opening marks the 21st location! The restaurant is located on the lobby level of the Nobu Atlanta hotel and is 10,000-square-foot space. The restaurant has 272-seats and is influenced by traditional Japanese garden pavilions often used for ceremonies and rituals. As you enter you will see a smallish but lovely bar to your right. Have a seat and have one of the may fantastic cocktails if you have to wait for your table. Protip: If you want to look cool, order the Southside, an off menu cocktail made with gin and basil that is light and refreshing. Of course there’s some seating outside for spring and fall days.

Solo diners will love the sushi bar where you can see all the action happening. Though it as popular with parties of two as we saw as well. The exposed kitchen provides guests with an intimate perspective as the Nobu culinary team creates signature dishes, featuring the finest in seasonal and homegrown ingredients. If you still want to see the majority of the action without sitting at the bar, reserve a table in the middle of the restaurant.

Don’t go straight to the sushi. I know, it sounds weird for a sushi restaurant. But instead, ease into your meal. Start with the Rock Shrimp, Yellowtail Jalapeño and the Black Cod with Miso

The portions are bigger than you might expect, so try to visit with a group if you want to try many of the dishes. The Miso Cod (pictured below) is one of the best items on the menu. The sweet and savory appeal of this dish is absolute perfection.

One of the most fun dishes at Nobu is this rice ball, which is deep fried. Then you can scoop the fish on top. Check out a demo of this here. Of course a favorite of many are the mini tacos. These come in all kinds of varieties and are 100 percent delicious. Served in portions of 2 each, you’ll need about 2 orders if this is your entire meal for the evening.

Of course you don’t want to miss out on the sushi, it is Nobu after all. Get an assortment of the chef’s choice of sashimi and nigiri (pictured below).

Nobu is located in Buckhead at the ritzy Phipps Plaza. You can valet in front of the restaurant or park in the deck at Phipps at no cost.
