Bulla Gastrobar – perfect for lunch, brunch or dinner [don’t sleep on the seasonal specialties]

Posted by

Cured meats, tapas and Spanish delicacies are on tap at Bulla Gastrobar

Bulla (pronounced Boo-yah) Gastrobar serves some incredible Spanish dishes in Midtown Atlanta. The parking garage around the corner and attached to Bulla Gastrobar is where to park. The restaurant will validate your parking when you park there.

Disclosure: My meal at Bulla was complimentary.

Bulla Gastrobar has a cork ceiling to drown out extraneous noise. This is quite nice, as the dining room is pretty compact and could easily get noisy. If you’re dining solo, they’ve got a bar area to sit and enjoy a meal, whether that’s brunch, lunch or dinner at Bulla Gastrobar. When I visited at lunch dining solo I enjoyed a burger and their lovely sangria – it’s the perfect lunch cocktail – just light + fruity that you don’t feel sleepy after day drinking.

Bulla also features seasonal specialties like a Spiced Old Fashioned which was perfect for the cold weather and their Bambas (oxtail stuffed in potato balls and fried) where delish too! I love these specialties that spring up seasonally.

Speaking of the bar, if you are dining at brunch, the Lemongrass Collins (pictured below) made with St. Germain is a wonderful alternative to a Mimosa or Bloody Mary at brunch. Or choose from the three different kinds of Sangria available, a steal at just $7. See the traditional red sangria from Bulla above.

Can I tell you a secret? Bulla Gastropub’s brunch menu has a lot of similar items to their dinner menu. Many of the tapas are duplicated on the brunch menu. So, it’s a fabulous choice if you are looking for a brunch spot with lots of options, especially for those that don’t want traditional brunch fare, though who doesn’t love eggs and bacon, right? Plus, meats and cheeses are available as well. If you feel like treating yourself, get the Iberian Ham (pictured at the top) to start.

A ceviche (below left) is a terrific start to any meal Bulla when a group are dining. I always get the chorizo stuffed and bacon wrapped dates (pictured bottom left below) when I go to Bulla. I mean who doesn’t love that combo of sweet and salty? Oh and those Montaditos below right? The best way I can describe these are like bruschetta Philly Cheesesteak – but like the best you’ve ever had.

One of the things I love about Bulla’s brunch menu is their Brunch tasting menu. Because there are so many amazing dishes at Bulla Gastrobar, it is difficult to pick one dish. So, they’ve got a menu of options including egg dishes, small plates and sweets. Note that you’ll get plenty of food if you go this route, so be sure you are hungry. The cost of this is $27. You can also add a mimosa for 3 bucks.

Huevos Bulla at Bulla Gastrobar in Midtown

Get the Bulla eggs with house made potato chips. It also has serrano ham and truffle oil. It’s available on the brunch tasting menu at Bulla Gastrobar or you can order it off the menu. We also ordered the Watermelon salad and Salmon rilletes to round out our tasting options at Bulla. I ordered the Bulla Benedict with chorizo, which was good, but paled in comparison to the Huevos Bulla. Average brunch entrees are just around $10 which is so affordable for how filling they are.

The hardest part of dining at Bulla is deciding if you should go for brunch, lunch or dinner. Though there is overlap on the menu, there are still distinct favorites at each meal. But one things remains true: you’ll have a fabulous time with your friends or for date night at this tapas hot spot.
